West Meade and Bellevue Moving Guide
West Meade and Bellevue are our backyard. JM Moving's office is on Charlotte Pike on the west side of Nashville, so these are neighborhoods our crews drive through every week. They share a lot: rolling hills, mature trees, easy access to the Warner Parks, and a quieter feel than the middle of the city. They also share a few moving-day quirks worth knowing about.
West Meade: ranch homes on rolling lots
West Meade grew out of land that was once part of the Belle Meade Plantation. After World War II it was developed into suburban neighborhoods, and the original housing was largely brick-veneer ranch homes on generous lots. Its boundaries run roughly from Charlotte Avenue and Davidson Drive on the north to Harding Pike on the east, with Carnavon Parkway on the south and west side. Today you will find original ranches side by side with large new homes built after a teardown.
What to expect moving in West Meade
- Sloped driveways. Many West Meade lots sit on hillsides. A steep driveway changes where a 26-foot truck can safely park and how the crew moves heavy items like pianos, safes and gym equipment.
- Single-level living, long hallways. Original ranches are easy on stairs but can mean long carries from bedrooms at one end of the house to the front door at the other.
- Basements and walkouts. Hillside homes often have a lower level with its own entrance. Using that door for basement contents saves a lot of trips through the main floor.
- Trees and branches. Our trucks are about 12 feet 8 inches tall. Low limbs over a driveway or narrow street can decide where we park. If you can, trim them or let us know ahead.
- New construction next door. With teardowns common, you may have a building site on your street with its own trucks and equipment. Give us a heads up so we can plan the approach.
Bellevue: suburban room, outdoors at the door
Bellevue is in southwest Davidson County, roughly 13 miles from downtown. Highway 70 and I-40 West connect it to the rest of the city, and Highway 100 runs along its southern side toward the Warner Parks. It is car-oriented and suburban, with shopping at One Bellevue Place and quick access to Harpeth River State Park. Housing is a mix of single-family subdivisions, townhomes and apartment communities.
What to expect moving in Bellevue
- Apartment and townhome communities. Many have rules about move-in hours, truck parking and reserving a loading area. Ask your leasing office well before your date.
- Upper-floor walk-ups. Some apartment buildings have no elevator. One flight of stairs is included at no charge on local moves; let us know about any more so we send the right crew.
- Subdivision HOAs. Like most suburban neighborhoods, some Bellevue subdivisions have their own moving or parking guidelines.
- Hilly streets. Parts of Bellevue climb up from the river valley. Steep grades are fine for our crews, but we want to know about them in advance.
Routes and timing
For moves into or out of these neighborhoods, the main routes are I-40, Highway 70 (Charlotte Pike and Harding Pike), and Highway 100. Rush hour on I-40 and Highway 70 can slow things down, so we like to have the truck loaded and rolling before the evening build-up. Because JM Moving runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, we can also schedule early mornings, evenings or weekends when that makes more sense for your family or your building.
Moving between West Meade, Bellevue and nearby areas
A lot of the moves we do here are short hops: a Bellevue townhome to a West Meade ranch, a West Meade house to a Belle Meade or Green Hills home, or a downsizer heading from a big lot to a smaller place nearby. Short moves still deserve a plan.
- Walk both homes. Note steps, slopes, doorways and where the truck can park at each end.
- Decide what isn't coming. Downsizing from a large West Meade home? Sort and donate before the crew arrives. You pay for what we move.
- Book storage if dates don't line up. If you close on one home before you can get into the other, we can store your belongings and deliver when you're ready.
- Protect the yard. Soft lawns after rain don't love foot traffic. Point out any areas you want us to avoid.
Pricing
Local moves with JM Moving are $250 an hour for 2 movers and a truck or $350 an hour for 3 movers and a truck, full service. We don't add charges for one flight of stairs, elevators, travel time, fuel or tax on local moves. Many west Nashville families prefer a flat rate; those start at $350 for a studio or 1-bedroom, $550 for 2–3 bedrooms and $850 for 4+ bedrooms. See how our flat-rate moving costs are set up, and we will confirm your exact price on a call.
FAQ
Can your truck handle a steep driveway?
Usually, yes. Our crews deal with hills all over west Nashville. In some cases it is safer to park at the street and carry, and we will decide that together before loading starts.
Do you move pianos and heavy items in West Meade homes?
Tell us about any piano, safe or heavy gym equipment when you call. We will plan the route through the house and the crew size so it is moved safely.
How fast can you get to Bellevue or West Meade?
Our office is on Charlotte Pike, right on the west side, and we work around the clock. For urgent or after-hours moves, call and we will tell you what we can do.
